Liberty Square | Mandi’s thoughts
Liberty Square is probably my least favorite area of Disney. With that said, it holds some of my favorite attractions.
First up and probably one of the most loved attractions at Disney World is none other than the Haunted Mansion. This is such a great ride that starts from the second you see the mansion. Disney thought of everything from the interactive waiting lines to the doombuggy you ride in throughout the ride.
You will be “frightened” in a light hearted manner throughout the entire ride. Don’t forget to be looking out for the hidden Mickey’s you can find all through the ride.
Because it is so complex and there are lots of different things to see I would suggest riding this ride several times in your day as you can. One of the more fun things about the Haunted Mansion is the Cast Members that run it are completely in character all the time. They have that very creep, dark, and sinister way about them like you would see in an old murder mystery movie.
One of my favorite quick service dining places is also located in Liberty Square. It is the Columbia Harbour House. This one is super easy to miss because a lot of people mistake it to be part of the table service restaurant The Liberty Square Tavern.
The Columbia Harbour House is unique because you can get things like, crab cakes, fish and chips, even grilled salmon and clam chowder. Now, if you know me, you would be surprised that this is the place I love, because I hate fish.
However, my husband loves fish and the inside of the restaurant is so fun with it’s New England, Old America, Nautical feel. I love the atmosphere and they still offer my chicken fingers too.
Now, after you have your belly full, head across the way and take a ride on the river in the Steam Boat. This is a relaxing ride around Tom Sawyers Island and will provide a beautiful view of areas you only get to see on this ride. Don’t forget to ask if you can help drive the boat!
You may just be one of the lucky ones that can go up to the Captains deck and you will be in for a fun time. If not, just find a seat or stand against the railings and enjoy the ride.
That’s all for today. Have a magical weekend!
