Disney Family Vacation…. Animal Kingdom Day!
Ok, so if you watch our vlogs or have paid attention to the blog you should know by now that Animal Kingdom is my second favorite park at Disney
(Magic Kingdom being first of course). So, naturally I was totally stoked and excited to go to Animal Kingdom with the whole family. It is one of the parks we have not all been together before.
We arrived all excited and pumped when we got to the park and started making our plans for what to hit through the day. However, the wonderful Florida weather had another idea that day.
About 2ish in the afternoon…horrendous downpour! We aren’t talking just your average afternoon sprinkles, we are talking thunder, lighting, downpour. Being totally Disney Freaks and being completely committed to sticking the rain out we endured it for about an hour.
After it was clear that the rain was not going to let up and realizing all Libby’s diapers had been soaked we decided to throw in the towel.
This personally was a super hard decision knowing we wouldn’t have a chance to come back to the Animal Kingdom on this trip. Keeping with the theme of the trip we all learned to just be “flexible” and enjoyed the morning we had anyways.
Although we had just half a day at the park we still were able to do so much in that time and made some pretty precious memories. We were able to ride on the Kilimanjaro Safaris, danced with the guys in Africa, venture into the world of bugs and even took a train ride over to Rafiki’s Island.
But, the most precious memory we made when we took our picture with Mickey and Minnie. As we stood in line to see Mickey, Libby fell asleep, and stayed asleep even through the big group picture of all the family.
It wasn’t till the very end that as I was holding her she started to wake up. It was so cute as she woke up and the first thing she saw was Minnie Mouse up close and shaking her hand.
I can only imagine what was going through her little mind. She had the biggest smile as she turned around and saw Mickey standing next to us as well. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip I will never forget.
Make sure to watch for our next vacation vlog coming up wednesday. Until then…. Have a magical weekend!
